What a time! October 4th Celebration Recap
The Ainsworth Linear Arboretum turned twenty, and some fantastic leaders turned up to celebrate!

After a tree walk through the arboretum, led by founder and Concordia Tree Team member Jim Gersbach, the program kicked off at 10am.
We welcomed Elana Pirtle-Guiney, Portland City Council chair, Vernon resident, and champion for healthy neighborhoods.
Marissa Richardson, City of Portland, provided context for medians, arboretums, and urban forests.
Friends of Trees staff offered remarks on working in the community to improve tree diversity.
The crowd cheered a ceremonial planting of a Torrey pine in the median across from Alberta Park. (Want to learn more about the Torrey pine? Visit the event overview here >>).
Forming a parade, the group walked down through the naturalized medians with a talk by steward and Concordia Tree Team member Autumn Voirol.
The parade arrived at KISS Coffee to eat special cake and learn more about Concordia Tree Team efforts in the neighborhood.

A huge thank you to all who turned out, honked their support, walked a dog and asked us all about the Arboretum. We look forward to working more with you to support our neighborhood urban forest.
