Teaching volunteers how to prune neighborhood street trees

Tree Team coordinator Mallory Pratt led a workshop for four people interested in learning about pruning street trees on Saturday, October 7th 10-11:45 AM.

Participants learned about tools, safety, timing, and technique.  The eager students got a chance to practice tree pruning and got to feel the satisfaction of seeing a tree go from tangled and overgrown to cleaned up and happy.  Her enthusiasm for trees and pruning is contagious!

Participants were encouraged to sign up for October pruning shifts, happening each Saturday in October for a few hours in the morning around the Concordia neighborhood. Tree Team members and volunteers will prune several small trees in the parking strip, after having secured permission from the homeowners. Every fall and spring, the Tree Team organizes this event to support the health and appearance of these vulnerable, valuable trees.
