Tell us your Concordia Tree Story
By Jordana Leeb
Do you have a favorite tree? A tree that provides cool shade on a hot day? Or has flowers that make you smile (or sneeze) in the spring? Or has brilliant fall colors against a bright blue sky?
Neighborhood trees are all around and care for us in so many ways. They provide shade and cooling in the summer and beautiful shows of color in the Fall. They are habitat for birds and animals; and provide delicious fruit – cherries, apples, pears, peaches. They are a part of our lives that can easily be taken for granted.
The Concordia Tree Team is inviting you to share your love of neighborhood trees through a new project called, “Concordia Tree Stories.” Anyone who lives or works in Concordia can submit a story-and all ages are welcome.
Examples of tree stories could include: Do you have a favorite tree in the neighborhood and why? Have you planted a tree or taken care of one that has thrived and how did you do it? Have you had an experience with a tree that shaped you? Have you written a poem that expresses your love of trees?
To participate, please submit answers to the questions below, along with a photograph (or drawing) of yourself and/or the subject of your tree story to the Concordia Tree Team.
There is a 500-Word limit for your combined answers.
At this time, submissions are welcome on a rolling basis.
Tree stories will be posted on the New Roots Blog and when space allows, in the Concordia Newspaper. Please keep in mind that stories may be edited slightly for length, clarity or grammar.
