May 6 Tree Walk: Compound Interest

Jim Gersbach, founder of the Ainsworth Linear Arboretum, will be giving a free tree walk - "Compound Interest" - on Saturday, May 6.

We'll look at trees with compound leaves (that's leaves made up of many smaller leaflets), learning to identify some of the most common species. Gersbach will also discuss how emerald ash borer threatens about two dozen ash trees in the Linear Arboretum.

Jim Gersbach, founder of the Ainsworth Linear Arboretum, will be giving a free tree walk - "Compound Interest" - on Saturday, May 6. Also on the tour will be an explanation of the long-range replacement plan for the ageing Norway maples in the median, and a review of how newer trees have fared over the heat and heavy snow of the past few years.

Where?

Meet on the southeast corner of NE 30th and Ainsworth at 9:30 a.m.

The 90-minute tree walk will head west ending at around NE 19th around 11 a.m.

Please come dressed for the weather - raingear if rain threatens, or hat and sunscreen if sunny.
